I am a teacher at a junior college and I have this book, because it is a good book for beginners administration, with the exception of lacking something in the kernel is compiled, and it came with Red Hat 7th 0 to 1 CD. Well, 8 out of 10 CD’s purchased my students had a bad CD or Red Hat 7th 0 could not with the Compaq Deskpros (P300MMX 128Mb-mem-ATI Mach64 2MB video w / IDE HD’s) in my class. Eleven minutes after the installation of the PC hung. I lean to the fault of the CD because we could identify a couple of CDs, which installed fine, but most do not, plus other download editions and publisher of Red Hat 7 is installed fine, and Red Hat 6th 2 Publisher Edition installed fine. A student aware of it until a currupted RPM file, but I lost the note, when I called him. The book is good, but be ready to buy Linux elsewhere. I will not with this book, when a new edition comes with Red Hat 7th 1 or higher, and it contains the kernel compile info. Rating: 1 / 5

  4. Yes, this book is for beginners and really helps me a lot during setup my own server. But the author tries, on the basic, by including in the table of contents of some security / firewall substances such as Satan, COPS, etc., but when you go inside the pages, you will not know anything about it, but references to where you they get info. It would be best if they contain this substance, as it should be noted that in the table of contents anyway, and the security / firewall is a hot topic these days. I hope that was not made on purpose for marketing profits. Rating: 3 / 5

This book is not for beginners. The title is very misleading, but good for marketing purposes. I only know after my purchase, that it is already running Microsoft Windows server to a “power user” is level or better. Although I think it is a good book, the author should change the title. If you do not at least one “power users” of Microsoft Windows Server, your money on a book that would be better to think of Linux administration. Thank God, I am an advanced / power user!
